Y'vonne Campbell (born July 27, 1951) dubbed as the "Princess of Sunbow" was one of the lead singer of the vocal group Euphoria's Child, one of the best Sunbow female teen act during the 1960s.


While her departure from Euphoria's Child in early 1971. she embarked her successful solo career the same year.

Early life[]

Y'vonne Shanelle D'angelo Campbell was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 27, 1951. She was the youngest with her oldest brother, Chico born to Diane (nee Haughton) and Freddie Campbell. Campbell was raised Catholic.

When she turned 13, the family traveled to Oakland, California and she attended Bishop O'Dowd High School and met her friends Jackie LeJeune and Mary Burkhart at the same school.

Career[]

1964-1971: Euphoria's Child[]

While they were at the cafeteria, Y'vonne and the two sung The Supremes songs and when the principle found out, the three got suspended for singing "secular" music. They were invited to perform at The New Perish, but they were teenagers, so they had to fake their age. Campbell came up with the name idea 'Euphoria's Child', The two liked it and performed with it.

Taylor Price discovered them while he was in town with his brothers. As they were discovered, they accepted that they wanna audition for Sunbow next month. As they auditioned, Taylor says “he doesn’t like it, but he loves it” and they accepted Euphoria’s Child. They finally sign into Sunbow.

1971-1982: Solo career[]
